[Maison Mére] Yes, on the 15th of August, among the thousands of pilgrims, even our new Superior General Father Tomaž Mavrič made his pilgrimage to the foot of the altar of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. He entrusted his new mission to the Virgin Mary, to St. Louise and St. Catherine Labouré. At the end of the celebration of the Eucharist, which was attended by the Visitor of the new Province of France of the Congregation of the Mission and various priests, Father Tomaž pronounced the following words:
“Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It’s with great joy that I address myself to all of you!
In these days and before I go to Rome to start my new mission as Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity, I desire to make this pilgrimage to our Holy Founders, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac in order to put these six future years under the gaze and protection of our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
The last 400 years we’ve been living the Vincentian spirituality and service to the poor have led to many fruits! May a growing deepening of our Vincentian charism in this 21st century transform each one of us into “Mystics of Charity”.
May our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, St. Vincent, St. Louise, St. Catherine and all the Saints and blessed of the Vincentian Family intercede for us!”
“Come to the foot of this altar where graces will be abundant…” May the Virgin Mary intercede to obtain for Father Tomaž many graces, so that he might, according to the expressed wish of Saint Louise de Marillac, “safeguard the identity and vitality of the Vincentian spirit in the Company of the Daughters of Charity”(C 2).
