“Faith is to decide to be with our Lord, to live with Him”

[Province of Peru] The Daughters of Charity of the Province of Peru joyfully celebrated the 182nd anniversary of the Apparitions of our Lady of the Miraculous Medal to Saint Catherine Labouré and the 379th year of the Foundation of our Company.

The 27th of November, full of the joy of the Feast of our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, we welcomed the young women and sisters who entered different stages of Initial formation and also the Sisters sent on Mission.

Postulant: Responding to Jesus’ call, Miss Aidé Catamayo left her five companions of the Pre-postulancy to join the 3 Postulants.

Seminary: Two new sisters, Sister María Flor and Sister Mary Nelly, started with happiness and generosity this wonderful road of formation for a deeper commitment.

Sent on Mission: With great joy we participated in the ceremony of sending on Mission of Sisters Roxana Atencio, Janet Fernández and Mirian Alberca who finished their time of formation in the Seminary.  They left the Seminary with nostalgia, but happy to go to serve Christ in our brothers and Sisters who are poor.

Opening of the Year of Faith – Vocation Year for the Province

The same day, convinced that “Faith is to decide to be with our Lord, to live with Him.” (Porta Fidei nº10) and with a radical commitment to the Pastoral Plan for Vocations, our Province enthusiastically began the YEAR OF FAITH a YEAR OF VOCATIONS.

This will be a year in which the whole Province will be united in intense prayer for the revitalization of our faith, an increase of vocations and for our fidelity.

Sister Visitatrice gave the Sister Servants a candle and vocational pamphlets produced exclusively for the celebrations.

Each local Community has been assigned a day of the month in which they will light the vocation candle and do the celebration using the pamphlet, so there will be not one day left without praying for an increase of vocations in the Church, and in a special way, for an increase of vocations in our little Company.
