[Province of Amazonia – Brazil] On March 3rd, 2013 the Community of Sister Lindalva Justo de Oliveira was born in the city of Iracema, in the state of Roraima. After 6 years of comings and goings to that city, the Daughters of Charity felt the need to settle there in order to make their evangelization more effective. Thus, the Bishop Roque Paloschi, Bishop of the Diocese of Roraima, rented a house where the Sisters are living. The mission is getting stronger through the accompaniment of pastoral communities, most especially investing in leadership training, home visits and work with migrants.
It was a milestone in the comings and goings of the Sisters, who with joy and missionary zeal, took on the new experience, driven by the cry of the poor and the call to “go beyond what it has been already done” and “serving going and coming with boldness and creativity, thus manifesting God’s love to the poor” (Inter-assembly Document p.13). And so this love story was written by the hand of God, who hears the cry of his people.
This new Foundation wants to be a strong call to mission in the Amazonia and to the solidarity with the poor of this immense region. The Company of the Daughters of Charity, under the insights of the Holy Spirit and strengthened by the maternal love of Mary, “set its tent at Iracema”, thus realizing the urgent appeal launched by the General Assembly of 2009, to “be transformed by the Spirit, source of prophecy and hope.”
May Mary, Most Holy in the fruitfulness of her silence and tenacity of her surrender, always help us to fulfill the will of the Father.
