“Where there are religious, there is joy!” Pope Francis
[Provinces of Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro – Brazil] On May 1-3, 2015 the 1st Interprovincial Meeting of Young Sisters up to 10 years-vocation of the Provinces of Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte was held at the Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity in Curitiba. In total: 40 Young Sisters plus 4 Formator-Sisters who accompany us. In this Year of Consecrated Life, this meeting brought a new ardor in living our vocation as Young Sisters, nourishing in us the love and the sense of belonging to a Community so loved by God and those who are poor. It also gave the opportunity to deepen our bonds of unity and sisterhood.
We were welcomed by the Visitatrix of the Province of Curitiba, Sister Leonides Selhorst, who joyfully motivated us to take advantage of this time of grace granted by God to each of us. After the introduction of the Provincial Council, Sister Vera Lucia Zanella, Formator of the Young Sisters of the Province of Curitiba, led a relaxed moment of sisterhood in which we welcomed one another, with much joy and fun.
Many were the opportunities to deepen our being and doing as servants of those who are poor, especially regarding our three foundations: prayer life, community life and mission. The beautiful story of the centennial of the Province of Curitiba was presented by Sister Therezinha Remonatto. A thought-provoking explanation on the world of the poor from their current situation was very well prepared and carried out by our Sisters Raquel de Fátima Colet and Bernadette Valenga, both passionate for the service of those who are poor. On spirituality and prayer life, we learned very much with the simple and fraternal presence of Frei Clodovis Boff who, with his simplicity, taught us much about how to cultivate this spiritual life which is the life of God in us, with and in Christ. And we had the opportunity to deepen this topic with the help of Sister Paula Pereira Alves, who introduced and inspired us in the practice of prayer, through the practice of Lectio Divina. All that we heard throughout these days was increased by the beauty and richness of prayer services, very well prepared by the Provinces, which became an extension of what we received from those who dedicated time and studies to help us in our formation.
Towards the end our meeting, we enjoyed moments of sisterhood, visiting some points of the beautiful city of Curitiba, and sharing experiences in this more informal and relaxed time that certainly will be forever etched in our hearts.
The mission continues to await us. Those who are poor wait for us, transfigured by the love of Christ Crucified that urges us. We are grateful for the graces that He has given to us in these days of great experience and learning. May our Holy Founders continue to intercede for each of us who now have the mission to make the seeds received here grow and bear fruit on the ground of our history.Sr. Marlene Aparecida Tome, DC Sr. Sandilene Maria de Sousa Bocafoli, DC Sr. Silvana Costa Rosa, DC
