[Province Madrid – Santa Luisa] María Immaculada School, Madrid (Spain), was headquarters for the “Scholas Citizenship” meeting, organized by “Scholas Occurrentes.” It took place from the 14th through the 17th of November.
Scholas Occurrentes is an international organization of papal right, encouraged by Pope Francis, whose mission is to improve education and to achieve the integration of communities.
“Scholas Citizenship” is an educational program for the formation of students on the secondary level. It seeks to bring them to a new awareness through an outline that realizes the importance of participation and of a social, civic and political commitment. Also, the program looks to generate an environment to help them in approaching the daily problems of the community of each student from a constructive perspective. The youth participates through investigation and then a presentation of proposals and solutions.
The encounter gathered 300 students, aged 15 and 17 years old. It carried out a series of activities to foment the commitment of the youth and their participation in the transformation of themselves and their environment.
María Immaculada School sent 15 to 20 fourth year secondary and upper secondary students to participate in the event.
