On March 23, 2026, the most important stage in the cause of the Servant of God, Sister Stanisława Barbara Samulowska, was completed. In recognition of the virtues she practiced in a heroic manner, the Holy Father Leo XIV has granted permission to call Sister Barbara Stanisława Samulowska, a Daughter of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, VENERABLE.

What does this mean for us, for the Daughters of Charity?
Sister Visitatrix Anna Wojciechowska beautifully described the significance of this announcement in an interview with Vatican Radio on the eve of the Renewal of Holy Vows:
“She was a Sister who was faithful in her daily life. She did not do great, extraordinary things, but she was characterized by daily fidelity, such daily devotion to God, giving her life to God, recognizing Jesus in the poor and in those to whom she was sent,”
and Sister Anna went on to quote words spoken about Sister Samulowska:
“even if all the rules of the Company of the Daughters of Charity were destroyed, by looking at the life of Sister Barbara Samulowska, one could reconstruct them.”
As we contemplate her lifelong faithfulness, as we contemplate her love for the Immaculate Virgin and her attitude as a servant, we learn how to remain close to God and to others through love. We learn to live our lives by doing good.
And now we continue to pray, hoping that the “Positio super miraculo” currently being prepared will allow the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints to grant approval for the recognition of a miracle through the intercession of the Venerable Servant.
