If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you”.

LV 25:35.

“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house.”

Service of the homeless is not something new for the branches of the Vincentian Family. The Vincentian Homeless Alliance intends to bring all 150 branches of the Vincentian Family together in the fight against homelessness, learning from each other, helping one another, and acting together in direct assistance to the homeless, as well as collaborating in advocacy.

“If you sleep on the ground covered in cardboard and have to wake up at 5 a.m. before the police come to shove you away,” he says, “and then you find a place like this, where you have breakfast, showers, a bed and dinner, what more do you want? (7 feb 2020).

Prayer

O God, you are a God of justice, mercy, and compassion.  Support us, your servants of persons experiencing poverty, as we endeavor to bring Your love and compassion to people who are homeless and in need of Your love.

We pray that we will see You, our all-loving God, in each person we encounter, and in our service for those in need.   May we do all in our power to support each person to reach their full potential, so they may experience the fullness of life.  We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
