The Province of Ecuador experienced a time of grace through the visit of the Superioress General and the General Councillor.
From 29 June to 6 July, the Province of Ecuador had the joy of welcoming our Superioress General, Sor Françoise Petit, accompanied by the General Councillor for Latin America, Sor Alicia Margarita Cortés. Their presence was a true time of grace that strengthened communion, renewed the family spirit and encouraged the Sisters to live the Vincentian charism with ever greater fidelity.

During their stay, they met with communities in different areas of the Province, visited educational, social and missionary works, the houses of the elderly Sisters and the Gethsemane Spirituality Centre. Each encounter provided an opportunity to listen, engage in dialogue, pray and give thanks for the quiet dedication of the Daughters of Charity to the service of Christ in those who are poor.

A particularly significant moment was their visit to the Ecuadorian Amazon, where they spent time with the Sisters in Puyo, Tena, Cruz Chicta and Zamora, as well as with Indigenous communities. The simplicity, fraternity and cultural richness of these peoples made visible the presence of God in a Church that walks alongside those most in need.

The Superioress General also presided over gatherings with the Vincentian Family and with Sisters from throughout the Province, both in person and online. She invited them to return continually to the sources of the charism and to strengthen their spiritual life, fraternity and apostolic creativity to respond to the challenges of our time.

Through the richness of Ecuadorian culture, each community expressed its joy at welcoming the Superioress General and the General Councillor. The visit concluded with a Eucharist of thanksgiving and a fraternal “until we meet again”, leaving in the hearts of the Sisters a renewed commitment to follow Christ, Evangeliser of the poor, with the simplicity, humility and charity characteristic of Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Louise de Marillac.

The Province of Ecuador gives thanks to God for the gift of this visit, which strengthened hope and communion and inspired us to continue our mission with joy, bearing witness to the love of Christ and being artisans of peace and hope wherever Providence sends us.
