Rome, January 22-26, 2025
The Professional Seminar of the School of Church Communications at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross is an international forum held every two years, aimed at communicators from dioceses and other ecclesial entities. In its thirteenth edition, the seminar focused on evangelization as an essential aspect of Church communication, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in contemporary evangelization, as highlighted by St. Paul VI. Held in the context of the Great Jubilee of 2025, the event gathered around 600 participants from various countries to discuss key contemporary issues and relevant content for today’s world.

The seminar covered various topics related to communication and evangelization, including the use of social media and art as tools to proclaim the Church’s message. Notable speakers included Zac Crippen, International Director of The Hallow, and artist Timothy Paul Schmalz.

The seminar underscored the need for Church communication to focus on charity, truth, respect, and the promotion of pluralism, with the goal of proclaiming Christ and bringing the light of the Gospel to all environments. Discussions highlighted different ways to facilitate the communication of faith, such as through witness, reason and science, charity and service, culture and art, healing and forgiveness, relationships, joy, and popular piety.

Attendees have the opportunity to participate in the World Jubilee of Communication from January 24-26, 2025. The event will begin with an International Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran, followed by a pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Participants can also enjoy a dialogue featuring Maria Ressa and Colum McCann, as well as a musical performance by Maestro Uto Ughi in the Atrium of Paul VI Hall. The jubilee concluded with a Holy Mass for the ‘Sunday of the Word of God,’ presided over by the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Basilica.
