RECONFIGURATION OF THE PROVINCES OF MADRID-SANTA LUISA AND MADRID-SAN VICENTE: THE BIRTH OF THE NEW PROVINCE, ESPAÑA CENTRO.

01/12/2021

“NEW WINE INTO NEW WINESKINS”

These words of Jesus, recorded by the Evangelist Matthew (9,17), are the Spirit’s light that guided, animated and nourished the journey made by the Daughters of Charity of the two Provinces towards the creation of the new Province, España Centro.

We briefly highlight some moments during the culminating event that was prepared with devoted attention, love, and joy; it took place within the framework of the well-loved “community feasts”:

On November 26 at 7:30 P.M. two hundred twenty Sisters gathered in the Chapel of Madrid-Santa Luisa Province for a moving and meaningful Evening Prayer entitled “… in the Potters’ hands.” With them were the General Superiors, the Visitatrixes and Councillors from Spain, the members of the Provincial Councils who are ending their terms, the new Visitatrix, with her Council, and the C.M. Visitors…

On November 27, at 10:30 am, we gathered again, this time in St. Vincent’s House for the reconfiguration ceremony that was beautifully prepared, with deeply meaningful symbols.

Sister Françoise Petit, Superioress General, Sr Concepción Monjas, the new Visitatrix, and the two former Visitatrixes, Sr María Eugenia González and Sr Antonia González gave inspiring messages, full of wisdom and steeped in the Vincentian spirit.

This was followed by the Eucharistic celebration presided by our Superior General, Fr. Tomaž Mavrič, at the Miraculous Medal Basilica. He also read the patent of the Provincial Director, Fr. Joaquín González.  Members of the different branches of the Vincentian Family were also invited.

The Eucharist was followed by a fraternal meal.

We give thanks to God for all that we have experienced, convinced that “nothing placed under the protection of Our Lady can fail.” We entrust to her maternal protection this new journey!
