The homeless

Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.

(Mt 8:20)

Together for a Dignified Life

Every day, there are more and more people living on the street: men, women and children. The reasons why they find themselves in this situation are diverse, but it is always painful and crucial for a life often marked by loneliness, insecurity, violence and lack of hope.

In general, society seems to be afraid of them and would like to take them off the streets, but rarely provides the necessary care for their reintegration into society and the appropriate conditions for them to live a dignified life.

In working with the homeless, the Daughters of Charity offer them respect, friendship and non-judgmental care, providing them with the services necessary to help them integrate into society. These services include:

  • reception centers
  • night shelters
  • canteens
  • health centers
  • closets
  • detoxification programs
  • access to services, both public and private
  • homes
  • temporary housing
  • literacy and self-esteem
  • legal counseling
  • job search
