On November 27, 1830, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Catherine Labouré, a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul. Sister Catherine was a Seminary Sister (novice) when she was graced with Mary’s visit. Mary condescended to manifest herself to Sister Catherine and, through her, to the whole Company. Mary seems to have chosen a Seminary Sister so that no one in the Company could consider herself excluded from the message confided through her.
