Apostolic Review Meeting

26/05/2025

The Apostolic Review Meeting took place at the Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity in Belém, Pará, from April 24 to 27, 2025. 31 Sisters representing the communities of the Amazon Province participated. At the opening, we entrusted this gathering to the protection of Our Lady of Grace through the Holy Mass at the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal.

All the participants were enlightened by the theme “Reviving the Living Flame of Hope”, in harmony with the Jubilee Year. The proposed subthemes helped review the apostolic journey of the Daughters of Charity, addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and missionary aspects. After all, to serve better, it is essential to be well within oneself, pay attention to the challenges of the present time, and seek answers to strengthen the pillars of our vocation.

Moved by the living flame of hope, the Sisters embarked on a pilgrimage, visiting the historic churches of Belém, passing through the Holy Door at the Cathedral of the Sé, and opening their hearts to receive the indulgences of this Holy Jubilee Year of Hope. This profound spiritual experience was accompanied by a contemplative appreciation of the beauty of our Church’s history, as well as the strengthening of fraternal relationships among the Sisters, fostering a true “culture of encounter.”

The meeting was enriched by numerous “signs of hope” expressed through the dynamic sharing of missionary experiences from the communities of the Amazon, symbolised by boats and anchors, which are deeply representative of our Amazonian reality. How wonderful it is to witness the dedication of each Sister in her mission to keep alive the flame of love for Jesus Christ in the person of the poor!

At the closing Eucharistic celebration, we united our prayers in praise of God on the Feast of Divine Mercy. With our hearts renewed by these days of formation and apostolic reflection, we felt the spirit of communion grow and the joy of mission propel us forward, reigniting the living flame of hope to continue serving the poor, the reason for our vocation.
