Sowing the future

Saint Louise de Marillac asked permission to open a school for poor girls who otherwise would be obliged to become beggars or find other ways of getting money. Education, for our foundress, was a way to help children and young people to grow up healthy. The Sisters were to teach them skills that could be used to earn an honest living and provide for the needs of their family and, at the same time, educate them in the Catholic faith and teach the catechism.

The world has changed, but young people often get bad press. However, when they are nurtured well, they are generous and enthusiastic. They become true disciples of Jesus, willing to do something for those who are poor. Helping them to achieve their potentials is a must for the Daughters of Charity! We are committed to doing this by working in many areas.  For example:

• Elementary, Secondary schools and colleges

• Youth ministry

• VMY

• MISEVI

• Vincentian Volunteer Programmes

• Mentoring young offenders

• Catechetics
