Promotion of women

God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.

(Gen 1:27)

Equality, dignity
and respect

Woman is equal to man in dignity, since both are images of God. This was so clear to Jesus that, even knowing that what He was doing was not allowed by religious rules, He spoke to the women, allowed them to approach Him, touch Him and follow Him.

Women have an important and particular task in building the Kingdom of God and their characteristics and gifts should be recognized and their contribution to society should be valued as important.

Women make up 50% of the world’s population, yet in many cultures and societies they are abused and not considered at their fair value. In many places they are the most vulnerable group in society. As women disciples of Jesus and servants of the poor and marginalized, the Daughters of Charity are committed to the promotion of women. We work with them to remedy the inequality that continues to exist throughout the world:

  • Women’s self-esteem projects
  • Shelters Battered women’s shelter
  • Alternatives for women caught in the trap of prostitution
  • Promoting the role of women in society
