As Daughters of Charity, we are daughters of the Church. Saint Louise insists on this point and invites us to live as children of such a mother. From the beginning, the Christian formation of young people was one of her concerns. She prepared the first Sisters to teach catechism to children and young girls. St Vincent, too, was attentive to the needs of parishes, and Sisters were sent there to serve persons who are poor.
In fidelity to our Founders, we participate in the specific mission of the Church: to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel, first and foremost to those who are poor.
In our pastoral mission, we endeavor to follow Jesus: Adorer of the Father, Servant of His loving plan, Evangelizer of those who are poor.
Our mission involves:
- parish ministry:
- catechesis, development of formation programs, preparation for the sacraments, liturgical animation.
- home visits, accompanying bereaved families, coordination with and support of those involved in parishes without a resident priest, etc.
- chaplaincy services:
- services in hospitals and retirement homes
- varied functions in schools, colleges, etc.
- assistance to those “on the margins”: people in prisons, Travelers, migrants, refugees, victims of abuse and exploitation
- spiritual accompaniment of various Church and Vincentian Family groups and movements (AIC, Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Vincentian Marian Youth, etc.).
- family ministry
