Persons who are sick

Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, for… I was sick and you took care of me…

(Mt 25:34-36)

Offering relief

The first mission of the Daughters of Charity was to visit persons who were sick and destitute in towns and in the countryside. St. Vincent and St. Louise advised the Sisters to be attentive to the smallest details and to bring comfort and reassurance to everyone.

In turn, we seek to meet the needs of those who are sick with respect, cordiality, gentleness and compassion, attitudes recommended by our Founders. We offer them the most appropriate quality care possible and ensure that their standard of life is improved.

We are primarily present in:

  • hospitals and clinics
  • health centers
  • dispensaries.

We play an active role in:

  • the fight against leprosy
  • the fight against AIDS.

We participate in Project D.R.E.A.M. (Drug Resource Enhancement against AIDS and Malnutrition). It offers free, comprehensive treatment to HIV-positive people in Africa with a focus on preventing transmission of the disease from mother to unborn child.

We provide spiritual accompaniment for those who are sick in hospital chaplaincies and in other Catholic organizations.
