Saint Louise saw education as the means to ensure the formation and development of children and young people. She asked for permission to open small schools for poor girls who, left to their own devices, would have become beggars. The Sisters were to provide their students with a complete, practical and concrete education, enabling them to earn an honest living and provide for their families. They also taught them catechism using reliable methods and educated them to live a life consistent with the Gospel.
The world has changed, and young people are sometimes discredited. However, when properly accompanied, they are generous and enthusiastic, ready to commit themselves and become true disciples of Jesus, with an active faith and inventive charity, especially towards those who are poor.
Accompanying teenagers and young people in their search and in their desires is essential for us.
We are there for them and with them:
- in elementary and secondary schools as well as in colleges and universities
- in catechetical activities and youth ministry
- in various movements, particularly those of the Vincentian Family:
- Vincentian Marian Youth (VMY)
- Vincentian Lay Missionaries (MISEVI)
- programs for young Vincentian volunteers
- in associations that accompany young people having problems with the justice system, children living on the streets, etc.
